Home Interaction program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY)

HIPPY is a 2 year home-based early childhood enrichment program which helpss parents to become their child’s first teacher. The program promotes school readiness and maximises the chances of a successful school experience for children aged 3 to 5 years. There is a strong focus on exploration and role play. HIPPY also increases parent or carer involvement in school and community life, and encourages a love of lifelong learning.

Over the school year children complete activities with a focus on literacy, numeracy, creative exploration and play. Two home tutors (themselves HIPPY parents) deliver each week’s activities to the parents through role play. The Home Tutor positions are an opportunity for parents to gain new skills and professional development through paid employment.
