Colony 47 Board of Directors
Colony 47 has a highly skilled Board of Directors. Membership includes stakeholder representatives from Business, Government, Education and Community.
The Board operates under a Governance Charter and a Governance Policy Framework and was recognised with a Gold Award in the 2006 Excellence in Nonprofit Board Governance Awards.
The Board is responsible for the development of the organisation's Strategic Plan and overseeing the governance framework in relation to service delivery, financial sustainability, leadership and future growth of the organisation.

Board President
Tracy Matthews, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, having commenced her career with Arthur Andersen in Melbourne Tracy has over 11 years experience in the commercial radio industry including 9 years as Financial Controller and Company Secretary and then General Manager of Hobart station 101.7 HO-FM. Tracy is a Director of the Printing Authority of Tasmania and Chair of the Printing Authority Audit Committee. Tracy is also Company Secretary of Robt. Nettlefold Pty Ltd, a private investment company, and a Consultant with Wise Lord and Ferguson, Chartered Accountants.
Participating as the President of Colony 47 is one way I can make a personal contribution to a community organisation and is an opportunity to encourage a stronger link between private business and the community sector.

Board Treasurer
Harvey Lennon , Harvey is Chief Financial Officer of RACT and an Officer in the Army Reserves. He is a Certified Practicing Accountant and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He brings knowledge of financial practices from both the public and private sectors.

Andrew Catchpole , brings experience from working within Hydro Tasmania as an IT and Business Consultant. He brings recent local knowledge in the contributions of larger organisational directions.
My connection to Colony was established through our esteemed past President who noticed I was looking for something real, human and fulfilling into which to put some of my 'spare' time. Colony's appeal to me combines relevance, completeness and pragmatic care. I only hope I contribute as much as I take away.

Board Member
Peter Geard, is currently the Managing Director / CEO of Kemp & Denning Limited.
Peter was born at New Norfolk, Tasmania and attended the Launceston Church Grammar School.
Most of his working life, Peter has spent in retail. He started his working career with the Devon and Southern Wholesale Nursery’s before working his way through a variety of positions at Kmart Australia, concluding his time there in the mid 1990’s as the National Merchandise Planner. He has been with K&D Warehouse ever since.
Peter is a Director of Kemp & Denning Limited, a member of Clay Brick & Paver Industry Board and a member of The Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD). He has also been a past member of the Mitre 10 National Marketing Committee, a retail training presenter for the TCCI & Monash University as well as an adviser to the Mazzegas Board of Directors in Western Australia.

Board Member
Lisa Harris, is currently Manager, Philanthropy and Special Events for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
Lisa completed a BMus (Hons) at King’s College, University of London, and a Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies at the University of Tasmania.
Lisa’s first full-time job was in the Development office at Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts in New York where she stayed for three years until her move to Tasmania. After working in administration, marketing and management she now works for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Lisa’s job is the management of the TSO’s philanthropy programs, fundraising events and the TSO Foundation. Lisa is also on the board of the Australian Script Centre. |

Board Member
Carol Hughes , is a qualified lawyer and has practised for a number of years as a Barrister and Solicitor, predominantly in the areas of commercial and family law and more recently in administrative law as Tasmanian Director of the Social Security Appeals Tribunal. She is currently Manager of the Resource Planning and Development Commission.
My strong commitment to social justice has lead to my involvement in a variety of community organisations over the last 30 years, and I am eager to contribute my experience and professional skills to assist Colony 47 in the important work that it does in our community.

Shaun Pearce , is currently the Principal of Goodwood Primary School and Timsbury Road Special School. He has worked for the last 10 years as Assistant Manager of Derwent Support Service addressing issues of disadvantage to support students with additional learning needs.

Michael Stevens, is Deputy Secretary in the Tasmanian Department of Justice and has been worked in a number of Departments and in a number of positions including Commissioner for Public Employment and Deputy Secretary for Post Compulsory Education and Training in the Department of Education and Official Secretary for the Governor of Tasmania. Michael also works as a volunteer on Louis Van.

Board Members
Maggie Walter, is a sociologist, teaching and researching in the school of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Tasmania in Hobart. She is also a palawa woman and was previously (2003) the Academic Director at Riawunna, the University's Centre for Aboriginal Education.
My research interests centre around social policy especially as it relates to and intersects with the family and Indigenous people in on Australia and other settler societies. But I also have other significant research interests around housing, retirement and ageing issues and workers' compensation. I hope to be able to contribute my academic and personal experience to the valuable work of the Colony 47 Board.
