Total Quality Maintenance - TQM

Total Quality Maintenance is an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE), and is a Colony 47 program with a mission to provide the non-discriminatory delivery of disability employment assistance to marginalised Tasmanians wanting to participate in employment.

TQM works 7 days a week providing a range of cleaning and gardening services including:

• Office, conference centre & hotel cleaning and housekeeping services
• Site cleaning & gardening apartment & flat complexes
• Mowing, weeding, pruning & general gardening.

TQM recognises that supported employment contributes to wellbeing and is a crucial element in supporting a satisfied life for clients engaged in the program as supported employees. Employment contributes to material security, health and safety, the capacity to develop meaningful relationships and to end isolation and marginalisation. It provides a measure of independence, enhancing the capacity of people with a disability to live and work independently; respecting and fostering their choices to engage in meaningful work.

TQM is a welcoming community, inclusive, supporting diversity and accepting people with disabilities into employment. In addition, TQM seeks to accommodate the linguistic, cultural and religious needs of supported employees in an inclusive and non-exclusionary environment.

Employment with TQM provides a significant positive input into the lifestyle of supported employees, with both material and psycho-social benefits that include reducing isolation and dysfunction. TQM engages its supported employees with community connections, creating through work a sense of belonging in community life, through engagement with TQM's external customers and the wider Colony 47 community.

For some of TQM's supported employees, the program is an anchor - a working 'home' in an environment which offers meaning, values, friendship and warmth. TQM supports the rights of our supported employees to not only work with us, but to participate as citizens to their fullest capacity in all aspects of life in Tasmania.
